Ewe Knit Kits & Yarn Spring 2008 Classes 

  • Classes must be paid for at time of registration
  • Cancellations must be received at least 7 days prior to class for a refund.
  • We reserve the right to cancel class if minimum number of students is not met.  Student will receive a full refund.
  • Make up classes must be coordinated between student and instructor.
  • Out of class assistance from the instructor is not included in the cost of the class.
  • Copyright laws prohibit the use of copies of books and patterns not provided by the instructor.
  • 10% discount on supplies purchased for class; must be purchased prior to or on day of class. Items purchased with a discount cannot be returned.
  • Please purchase supplies prior to beginning of class.
  • Skill Levels:
    None: student has little to any skill
    Beginner: student has basic understanding of knitting/crochet (cast on, knit, purl, increases and decreases, bind off, chain, single and double crochet)
    Beyond Beginner: student has knowledge of basic to intermediate skills and is capable of working on their own
    Adventurous: student wants to challenge themselves

    KNITTING BASICS

    Learn the basics!  Cast on, bind off, knit, purl, and simple increases, decreases, fixing mistakes.

    Learn to knit or crochet the basics.  Cast-on, chaining, knit, purl, different crochet stitches, increasing, decreasing, and finishing off.

    This class is also available for those who want to go beyond scarves or need help with a specific project.

     Materials:  yarn, needles, hooks, knitting notions

    Skill level:  beginners or advanced beginners

    A SWEATER FOR SPRING

    Don’t be afraid of a sweater.  This is a great no seams way to knit.  We’ll use the Knitting Pure and Simple neck down method to knit your choice of a man, woman or child’s cardigan or pullover sweater.  Many students begin with an infant size sweater if they don’t have the knitting time to complete a larger size.

     In this class you will learn knitting in the round on circulars/double points, measuring gauge, picking up stitches, and customizing the pattern for your needs.

     Materials:  Knitting Pure and Simple neck down pattern of your choice, needles, yarn, knitting notions.

    Skill level:  beginner but should know the basics including fixing simple mistakes

    KNITTING WITH BEADS

    Adding beads to a simple scarf pattern can change the simple to the exquisite.  Join us to learn how using the “Mary” scarf pattern.

     Materials:  Lace wt or sock wt yarn, appx 400 yds, beads to work with your yarn choice, needles to work with your yarn choice, knitting notions.  The pattern will be provided

    Knit the Audrey sweater in “Hot Knits” by Melissa Leapman in YOUR gauge!

     Ever been frustrated because you are not getting the pattern gauge with the needles and the yarn YOU want to use to make that sweater? Learn how to convert the pattern gauge to YOUR gauge and make any sweater you want with the yarn of your choice!

     Skill Level: Advanced. You don’t have to be a math wizard, but you do need to be an advanced knitter. You understand sweater construction. You know sometimes you just have to frog or tink and you like the change of direction this activity provides! You can cable, knit, purl, pick- up, cast-on and bind-off. You own a calculator or can borrow one.

     Note: Prepare for the first class by knitting one or more test swatches in one of the yarn choices below until you are happy with the fabric coming off your needles. Bring the swatch to class that most pleases you.

     Materials: Enough yarn to make a sweater (use your usual sizes/measurements as a guide) out of either Blue Sky Cotton or Otto, needles which provide you with the gauge you like, Melissa Leapman’s Hot Knits, calculator, pen, paper.

    Minimum/Maximum Students: Minimum 3 students/Maximum 6 students.

                  Pi…

    a circular shawl

    Elizabeth Zimmerman published the basic pattern for this shawl in the early ‘70’s and it has recently resurfaced in a big way.  We’ll use her basic pattern and look at many ways to make it your own. A simple Pi pattern makes a great travel project.

    In this class you will learn Emily Ocher’s circular cast on, lace knitting, reading charts, planning your shawl, knitting in the round, different yarns, a knitted cast off/edging and we’ll join Elizabeth Zimmerman as she teaches us her pattern and shares her opinions.

    Materials:  appx 200 yds sock weight yarn, US 7-10 double pointed and circular needles, crochet hook corresponding to your needles, knitting notions. A copy of My Favorite Pi shawl pattern will be given to each student. We’ll knit a sampler size in class..

    Skill Level:  Intermediate and adventurous
